Mind is one
of the most amazing elements that the human body is endowed with. It won’t be
an exaggeration to say that; ‘the mind is to the body, what an engine is to a
machine’! All our thoughts, ideas, emotions, actions and reactions are created
in this engine of the body! So, a great mind can be a real asset!
But what our
mind creates depends on what we absorb in its system and how we ultimately
channelize it. An average mind thinks about sixty thousand thoughts a day..but about
95 percent of these are the same as what we have thought the day before. In the
long run, our mind is cluttered with all kinds of thoughts; negative, doubt
ridden, thoughts that weigh us down etc. All of these not just make us a mental
wreck, sooner or later, but also impede our growth in life.
Therefore,
our mind must be de-cluttered from time to time for it to work magic in our
life.
-
The
first step to de-clutter is to write all the thoughts that bother you. It may
be a feeling of lingering regret or that of inferiority complex that may be
creating a chain of negative thoughts in your head, but by writing you are one
step closer to banishing them all away! So..go ahead, and write all of them
down without a bit of hesitation.
-
The
next step should be to distinguish the ones that need to be addressed and the
ones that need to be done away with, right away. For example; A colleague’s
irritating comment or thought of you being a failure just because your friend
scored better than you, are useless thoughts that only occupy unnecessary head
space. Get over them! While for the other set of thoughts that bother you, like
confusing thoughts related to your career path or your disliking for yourself
because you think you’re not confident enough..These demand attention. You must
figure out a way to settle these thoughts by taking concrete actions to
overcome the underlying feelings or emotions. (This way you’ll be able to
channelize your energies towards your growth as a person!)
-
The
final and the most important step is to determine to yourself, that from now on
you will not allow any negative thoughts to even enter in your head..let alone
stay there! Keep a strict check on the quality of thoughts you think. However,
negative thoughts will arise, as a human tendency..but you should be wise
enough to guard your mind and filter the thoughts. Keep only meaningful,
positive thoughts in your mind..thoughts that drive you to achieve that sublime
state of happiness and success in life always!
Happy de-cluttering! :D
